Developing a new Strap system and Buckle

Due to the uniqueness of our design, we have had to develop the strap system from the ground up. Throughout many iterations we are getting closer to the final design. We decided to go with a durable fabric but one that is also smooth to be more comfortable against the face. Regarding the buckle our two main contenders is the standard clip buckle or a magentic buckle. Our initial choice is to keep things simple with a traditional clip buckle. We feel that the magnetic buckle lacks the 'feeling of security' when it is so easily detachable. But we need your help, we would like to know what buckle & strap system is like on your current helmet and what your preference is!

Great Feedback guys, thanks alot. We will look into the magnetic/fidlock buckles and get back to you all!

I completely agree with the others here proposing the fidlock magnetic buckle. My snowboard helmet has this system and I completely love it. I fell twice (hard falls, the ones when you need a helmet or it would be your last) and the helmet remained completely safely strapped, but I could opperate it with one hand without taking my gloves off.

Two hands up for Fidlock. If it was possible I would have exchanged all my buckles for magnetic Fidlocks already. Just use it yourself for a day or two and you are convinced. Even my kid highly prefers its Woom helmet because of the Fidlock: it does not squeeze her skin when closing the buckle.
Coming back to your concern: Yes - it’s super easy to use with on Hand, opening and closing. Convenience is not necessarily unsafe. As far as I know they also aimed to surpass the standards. They are more expensive, but its more than worth it. I also expect inflabi to be safe, even though it’s going to be ‚a bit different ‘ - Hopefully ;)

I have several helmets with different buckle types. Clear preference for the magnetic buckle. Easier handling (one hand is enough), safe feeling, never pinched my skin as it happens with clip buckle.

I like the look of this type of the fidlock magnetic buckle (magnetic seems a little bit fancier to me, but seems quite strong too), the uvex push button release looks really nice, also the ratchet release looks good

Most of my helmet buckles so far have been clip buckles, but they have a certain slip over time and need to be adjusted too often. My Uvex helmet has one with an adjustable ratchet, which I like most. I have no experience with magnetic buckles, but would not reject them just because they may not feel safe (as long as they are safe). I favor a system that provides a quick AND stable adjustment.

My current helmet buckle is magnetic and I trust it sins years.

The magnetic buckle on my folding 'Morpher' folding helmet has been superb. The main benefit for it is that you can do it up with one hand - and undo it (but buckle undo with one hand is also possible,)
I love the magnet buckle!

Motorcycle Helm Pull buckles (with ratchet) You never see them on bike helmets. But they are really convenient.

I love the one of Uvex, as you can't accidentally pinch yourself. I'm sure the mechanism is still patented though
